Karl Margrain - Founder and CEO

As the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Payleadr, Karl draws on his vast experience in financial services and payments accumulated over 15 years in the industry across a multitude of senior sales, strategic partnership and product roles in Australia and New Zealand.

Karl’s career in payments began in New Zealand with Debitsuccess, a large provider of recurring billing solutions. Following a move with that business to Australia in 2012, Karl subsequently headed the Channel Partnerships functions at Tyro Payments, an ASX listed business bank, responsible for sales and strategy across 250+ integrated channel partners. Karl also served as a Responsible Manager on Tyro’s Australian Financial Services license, and in that capacity was responsible for ensuring that the distribution of Tyro’s suite of payments solutions adhered to the relevant regulatory requirements. Karl departed Tyro Payments to found Payleadr in 2018.

Karl is passionate about solving payment frictions on all sides of the transaction and is thrilled to be leading a business which delivers a world class digital payments experience, whilst enhancing affordability for the consumer and cash-flow for the merchant through innovative recurring subscription and membership payment initiatives.

Justin Mitchell - Non Executive Director

Formerly the Chief Risk Officer and Company Secretary at Tyro Payments (ASX: TYR) and currently a non-executive director at Kit Legal. Justin has worked in the financial services and banking industry for more than twenty years and has established internal audit functions, developed risk frameworks, implemented internal compliance control methods, developed and delivered enterprise-wide risk training and managed large financial services projects.

At Tyro Payments, Justin served on the executive committee and his tenure included a $100m capital raise and the granting of an authorised deposit-taking institution license (ADI) by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority.

Shaun Quincey - Non Executive Director

A seasoned payments professional, Shaun launched Transaction Services (parent of Debitsuccess) into the USA market, helping grow the company to a > 1B market capitalisation with more than two million customers.

Shaun subsequently founded Genoapay, one of New Zealand’s original BNPL platforms. Within six months of launch, the company was valued at close to ten million dollars and was acquiring over 2,000 customers per day. In December of 2018, Genoapay was acquired by Latitude Financial Services (ASX: LFS) and in 2019 they successfully launched in Australia as LatitudePay. Shaun was formerly the General Manager of Buy Now Pay Later at Latitude Financial Services and serves as a non-executive director of Ice Angels and Quashed Limited in New Zealand.

Shaun is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, having been recognised for being the only person to row solo from Australia to New Zealand, has raised millions in capital for various companies in New Zealand and Australia, and is one of a small number of Antipodeans to experience success in the US market.

Tamer Abou-Maraseh - Head of Engineering

Tamer is a seasoned fintech expert with extensive leadership experience in the payment industry. A technology preacher with the soul of a developer!

Tamer’s payments career started in 2004 as a software developer with Cosmos, now known as Corum Group, one of the first payment facilitators in Australia.

In 2009, Tamer moved to IP Payments (acquired by Bambora), Australia’s leading provider of payment gateway technology to enterprises., where he headed the technology department until 2016 when he departed to pursue fresh challenges across various sectors in fintech, including foreign exchange (ex OFX) and BNPL (ex Zip).

Tamer is passionate about digital transformation projects that create a positive difference in people’s lives.  Tamer specialises in product development, team building and the digital enablement of payments.

Joshua Sutton - Sales Representative

Joining Payleadr mid-way through 2021 in a Sales Representative role, Josh brings with him nearly 10 years of experience in sales and account management with the past 6 years being in the payments and financial services industry, having previously worked for ASX listed EFTPOS solutions providers, Smartpay and Tyro Payments.

Josh loves working with SME’s across a wide range of industries to solve complex business challenges through innovative payment solutions which enable the business owner and management to focus on what they do best, while Payleadr looks after the heavy lifting on the payment administration front!

Outside the world of payments, you’ll find Josh at the beach, fishing or training – Josh loves long-distance hiking and cycling and has recently completed his first half marathon run.

Mohamad Abu Maraseh - Senior Software Engineer

Mohamad lives and breathes software and technology.  Starting his technology career over 12 years ago as a Telecommunications Engineer, Mohamad worked extensively around Australia on major mobile infrastructure projects with Huawei, Optus and Vodafone.

Mohamad transitioned to a position as a Software Engineer in 2015 and has been predominantly focused since then on e-commerce and payment platforms, allowing him to pursue his passion for fintech.

Having joined Payleadr in 2019, Mohamad is an integral part of our team and leads a team of talented engineers who are focused on solving complex customer challenges through elegant and intuitive software solutions.

Away from his (many) monitors, Mohamad enjoys travelling, fishing, swimming and cycling and weekends will often see him driving long distances with his young family to explore the great outdoors.

Talicia Bourke - Customer Success Lead

Talicia is our Customer Success lead, liaising with our merchants and our customers to ensure a smooth billing experience on both sides of the transaction.

Talicia possesses vast customer support experience, having worked as a team supervisor at Woolworths in Shepperton and Melbourne before combining her customer service skills with her passion for the outdoors as a frontline ticket consultant at Mt Buller Ski Resort.

In September 2021 Talicia moved to Sydney and joined the Payleadr team as a Customer Support Representative. Talicia quickly established a strong rapport with our clients and takes great pride in delivering exceptional customer service – eliciting 5-star reviews from merchants and their customers.

In her spare time, you will find Talicia enjoying time with family & friends, exploring the outdoors or at her local yoga or Pilates studio.

Jessi Razouki - NZ Business Development Manager

Jessi joined Payleadr in July 2022 to spearhead our operations in New Zealand.

Jessi has significant experience in payments and fintech, having previously been involved in business development for one of New Zealand’s original BNPL platforms ‘Genoapay’.  In that role, Jessi onboarded more than 500 merchants in the first year. The majority of these merchants were in the hair and beauty industries, which allowed Jessi to gain a sound understanding of the business growth that salons can achieve through the effective use of innovative payment technologies.

When Genoapay was acquired by Latitude Financial Services Jessi went on to become a Channel Partnership Specialist, growing their presence in New Zealand and then across Australia with LatitudePay and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships to ensure growth for all parties involved. Jessi was also involved in the organisation and execution of Genoapay’s and LatitudePay’s presence at expos, trade shows & conferences within New Zealand and Australia.

Outside of work, Jessi is a proud mum to a little boy and loves spending time with her family & friends, eating good food and travelling as often as she can.
